The demodulator has level (volume) and tone controls and can be completely turned off. The demodulated audio from the detector is routed to the level and tone controls and then to the radio’s built in audio amplifier. The amplifier output has been configured so that the audio when operating the demodulator is fed to the headphone jack in front of the radio but not to the radio’s speaker when the headphones are disconnected to avoid feedback. This allows you to listen to the received signal when in receive mode and listen to your transmitted audio while in transmit mode. No need to listen to yourself using a separate receiver. The transmitted audio can be recorded using the playback recorder and you can play yourself back.
