This Signal One transceiver (serial number 1004-97-20) is in really nice cosmetic condition. Both the front panel and cabinet look terrific! The knobs are a little dirty but should clean up nicely. Inside, it looks to be complete and unmodified (at least to my untrained eye). It also appears to have some optional filters! The bad news is that it’s not powering up. There’s also a tag on the front which seems to indicate low sensitivity and distortion. This one should make an excellent candidate for restoration! Please note that an AC cord and microphone are not included in the sale. The bottom line is this… You’ll receive your item on time and in perfect condition regardless of how big, heavy, or delicate your item may be! Having been in storage, the radio avoided the wear and tear from daily use and multiple owners The switches and pots as well as the rest of the radio is in very good condition. Since purchasing in 2007, the radio has been completely gone through, and the following was done: – Sherwood matched 8 pole filters installed – Marginal tantalum caps were changed out – The 9 power supply electrolytic caps were replaced with fresh stock Mallory and CD computer grade caps (not easy, or inexpensive). 3 CX-11As have lost one or more of these original 35 year old caps in the last year, causing damage to the radios. TCXO added to replace 10mhz crystal oscillator – BFO crystals replaced with new production ICM crystals ; 43.1, and upper / lower SSB – 43.1mhz crystal heater adjusted (resistor change) to cycle at 60 degrees C, instead of 80 – Three tab -15, -15, and 5 volt regulators changed to new versions, with better protection. 5 Volt regulator was changed to new Micrel higher current version – Fan replaced with more quiet model – BFO aligned – Synthesizer aligned – Switches cleaned and lubed – PTOs cleaned and lubed – New thermal grease on regulators, TX drivers, PA transistors Other than above, there have been no other modifications to the radio. The front panel shows no wear or marks, the cabinet has a slight rub mark on the lower right side at the back. The original fan and crystal filters will be supplied with the radio. The radio also has the original box, and manual. This is a 35 year old radio that has been carefully maintained and covered when not in use, the work that I have done makes this a radio that can be used daily. There are at least 3 hams, including myself that can work on CX-11As should a problem arise so they are not orphans. Thank you for looking, Bob K4EIR. Signal/One CX-11A in excellent and 100% operational condition. Includes optional 200w high power mod and the optional CW filters (2). This unit has all ICs socketed before they were eliminated to reduce production cost. Also included is the original manual, all Kollar modification notes detailing numerous changes required due to production errors, listing of production modifications and final test and alignment procedure. All but the latest units had multicolored panel markings (green, yellow, red) after which, again to save costs, all markings were black. Unfortunately over the decades the yellow (used on the MODE and MHZ controls) has faded. Im making custom overlays for these locations that changes the color from yellow to black.
