This is an outstanding piece of Collins equipment. This HF-380 (serial number 932) is in fine cosmetic condition. There is some slight rubbing on the trim ring and one very small dent on the bottom (see photographs), but that’s about it. All hardware is original and present. The paint is in great shape and the display is bright. It’s loaded with every available option. It operates beautifully and puts out well over 100 watts. Every function we tested worked great. If you’re looking for an HF-380, you’ll have a hard time finding one nicer than this! Please note that a microphone is not included in the sale, nor is the manual. Ensure the equipment will meet your needs. Ensure you know how to operate it. Ensure it will work with your existing equipment. We’re happy to answer a questions if you’re stuck, but we ask that you do your due diligence. Transceiver radio HF SSB excellent & options (re KWM-380). If the video does not start. This is the Rockwell Collins HF-380 transceiver, the professional/military version of the KWM-380. It is in superb condition with only a minor scuff here and there, see the detailed photos and YouTube video. The radio offered here is a factory original HF-380, so it is NOT an upgraded KWM-380. It has a late HF-380 serial number, ser 1246. PLEASE NOTE: HF-380 and KWM-380 serial numbers are NOT interchangeable, because many more KWM-380s were built than HF-380s. For an explanation of the serial numbers for these radios. This particular radio came from a foreign embassy after an upgrade. It has been maintained by Rockwell Collins all its life and was well cared for; see the detailed photos and video. As you can see from the photos and video. The radio is in excellent condition and works perfect; good sensitive receiver, excellent frequency accuracy and great sounding modulation at full rated power. Of course an HF-380 already had all options installed from the factory. AC-3802 RF speech processor board. AC-3801 Noise blanker board. General-TX harmonic filter board. High stability ovenized reference oscillator board. 1.7 MHz narrow SSB filter (as well as the standard 2.2kHz one of course). HF-380 ROM (for general TX 1.6 MHz to 30 MHz). Anti-hiss low pass active audio filter board. Furthermore, the radio offered comes with the following external accessories. AC-3805 Keypad, excellent condition and works perfect. Collins microphone (works excellent but protective cap is missing). HF-380 Instruction & maintenance manual (excellent condition, 2 inches thick). If you ended up here, you already know what an excellent radio the Rockwell Collins HF-380 transceiver is, even compared to todays transceivers, so I wont go in too much detail here about its design. Just some of the highlights: The digital synthesizer design was an absolute masterpiece; one of the first transceiver ever designed capable of digitally synthesized 10 Hz resolution. The receiver is a joy to use, with an excellent AGC action and very good sounding reception, without any listening fatigue due to the excellent crystal filters used. The transmitter and built-in power supply were heavily over-designed, it just loafs at 100 watts rated power. As a result, the RF amplifier has excellent linearity with 3. Order products well below 30 dB from PEP. The RF speech interface is one of the best ever designed, and the noise blanker is very effective. The HF-380 is an incredibly rare find these days. Even harder is to find one that is in such a nice and factory original condition, with the original service manual and Collins keypad included. This is going to be the crown jewel on your Collins collection. This is very simple to do though; Collins already connectorized the transformer to facilitate this process so you only need a Phillips screwdriver, no soldering is needed. We will double box the radio; the accessories and AC transformer will be in a separate box. You also should keep the packing materials (and the damaged item) until the carrier has ruled about the damage claim. We need this from you to increase the chances of filing a successful damage claim with the carrier. We will put the AC power transformer back in the radio for local pickups though, so you wont have to do that yourself. Peech processor, noise blanker, 140Hz, 360 Hz, 1.8 KC, 2.2 KC and 6.0KC filters, RS232 interface, Kiron memory chip with full transmit, 2nd bandpass filter board, all 18 mods, 3 letter mods, HP 72 diodes upgrade, late better shielded power transformer and reinforced speaker grill. Harry Snyder’s personal radio which he loaded up with all the available accessories, convertered it to an HF, installed the latest mods and did the pin diode upgrade.
