This is a treasure. A Collins KWM-2 #299 w/ Samsonite case, it is complete with mic handset , cables and instruction manual. I tested this unit , and it works beautifully. I added a photo of it lit up and the sound is perfect. It was appraised as in Excellent to NOS condition. As to be expected with something of it’s age, the Samsonite case does have a couple minor dings on the exterior. Up for your consideration is a Collins KWM-2 amateur radio transceiver. Rig was acquired from a local amateur who is downsizing and moving south. The previous owner informed me the radio has a intermittent problem. Owner told me the radio would sometimes operate fine and then just stop working altogether apparently this happened on a few occasions. I do not know the operational state of the radio right now. The physical condition is very good in my opinion (see pictures). That being said radio is offered as is , operational condition unknown. Radio will be professionally packed for safe transport. Collins KWM-2 SSB/CW Ham Radio Transceiver Winged Emblem Clean Cond SN 11887. This radio is in very good condition for its age showing little wear! The biggest issue is that there are some paint chips on the trim ring of the lid. Aside from that, and some other tiny scuffs, scratches, and marks, the radio appears fantastically clean! Installed in this radio is a full bank of optional crystals! Please note that no microphone is included. This item has been tested by our technician, a ham radio operator of more than 55 years. Here’s what he had to say: Tested with a dummy load and also an RF generator on all bands for signal strength on both SSB and CW modes. I measured 90+ watts output on my SWR / watt meter! Physically, the radio is in good condition for its age showing some wear. There are a few areas that show some scuffs and other marks but overall the radio looks very clean! I will include a copy of the KWM-2 manual and the interconnecting cables necessary so you can get the station right on the air. The KWM-2 (s/n 1217) paint appears original and in good condition except for some chips around the finger holes. The tubes and crystals checked good as well as the alignment. The electrolytic capacitors under the chassis have been replaced. The power out is 100 watts on the 20 meter band and below. 90 watts output above the 20 meter band. Good signal and audio reports received when checking into local nets. The 516-2 has been upgraded with the Farm Radio Projects PC board having a relay to protect the KWM-2 power switch, new capacitors, solid-state conversion allowing the filament winding to be used to buck the 120 volts AC, bringing the supply voltage down to 115 volts AC. The power supply cabinet has been repainted, matching the KWM 2 and 312B-4 very well. The 312-B4 Station Console paint appears original and in very good condition. The Electro-Voice Model 638 microphone in good condition with some signs of wear. The the appropriate connector for the S-Line is installed. VINTAGE COLLINS KWM-2 TRANSCEIVER NO RESERVE! The cabinet measures 7″ x 13 1/4″ x 14 3/4. It is very clean, use the zoom feature to evaluate and read below. We recently acquired a group of ham radio transceivers and other equipment fresh from a local estate. The family said the man had all of this hooked up and all was in working order. We did not power any up in fear of blowing capacitors or doing any other damage. We have every reason to believe these are in functioning order but as you well know they are quite sensitive so some servicing may be necessary. This listing is for a Collins KWM-2 Winged Emblem HF Ham Transceiver. Cosmetically this radio is generally good to very good, with very few nicks. Front looks very good. This has the plug in relays and Teflon wiring. It also has the high voltage safety shorting switch on the final amp cage. It would be rated CCA Good to very good. The chassis is very clean as you can see. It is tested, guaranteed working well, all bands, all modes. Receiver is hot and stable. This transceiver has had its electrolytic and paper capacitors replaced with new ones. PTO tuning is smooth as it should be. Transmitter produces <120 watts output as it should. No power supply is included. Neither is my wattmeter.. To be perfectly clear, I do want to sell in all countries where Ham Radio is legal.
