The interface boards on these radios do not have the power switching circuitry to allow the power button on the HHCH to work, the HP W3 XTL5000 is actually fairly rare, Moto wanted to sell the high dollar O3 head radios So yes the radio can be programmed for W3 and you can put a switch between pins 20-22 on the acc plug to control the power, or a relay for ign. Control, this is the ONLY way I recommend this is done, feeding power into the acc. You will be pleased with this radio, more importantly your customer will be pleased with this radio.
