This is a Kenwood TS-180S HF transceiver. This is an all solid state HF radio covering the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meter bands. I got this radio to use as a parts unit for another 180S I was working on at the time. I wound up not needing it, so I can let it go. I did some very limited testing on it when I got it. It powers up, the digital display works and tracks the VFO. Receive is very weak, basically deaf and zero power out on transmit – all bands. It is complete with no missing parts. Has the optional second SSB filter and memory unit. Obviously it is listed as non-working for parts or repair. No power cord or any other accessories included, only the radio itself.

This Kenwood TS-180S transceiver came to use from a very nice gent who informed us that his friend tested it and verified proper wattage output and operation. We do not know this man’s friend, nor do we know his call sign or other information. This transceiver is therefore being offered solely “as is” and for “parts or restoration”. We can only tell you that we connected this as a receiver to our antenna and tested it in the various amateur bands and receiving modes and it worked nicely with one noted exception. During tuning, we noticed that the 100 Hz on the frequency display did not reflect each 100 Hz increment. For instance, it would show “0” but then skip the “1 and 2″ and show a “3” as the next increment. This was only the last digit of the digital display (100 Hz). The actual audible reception was perfect despite the display not always properly reflecting the frequency. We also noticed that the meter display (and likely the analog display) appeared to be missing the illumination lamps. It is supplied with a copy of the operational manual and the DC power cord.
