LDG Electronics Z-817 20-Watt Automatic Tuner with FT-817 Integration. The LDG Z-817 is an automatic tuner intended for use with the Yaesu FT-817/818 QRP transceiver. It interfaces with the transceiver through its CAT port, providing full control of the tuning cycle. An included CAT/Power cable interfaces with your FT-817/818. This makes it an integrated tuner powered by the interface; no extra power cables are needed. A CAT pass through port is provided for computer control. Like most LDG tuners the Z-817 operates automatically, beginning a tuning cycle whenever the user presses the tune button on the tuner. It also features LDGs advanced memory tuning, providing 2,000 memory locations; when tuning near a previously used frequency it will recall the settings for nearly instant tuning. It learns your favorite frequencies and bands as you use it. You can also start a tuning cycle manually whenever necessary. 0.1 to 20 watts SSB, CW, and digital modes. Latching relays for ultra low power operation. 2,000 memories for instantaneous frequency and band changing when used with FT-817 radio. 4x 1.5V AA (Alkaline recommended for long life). Designed specifically for the Yaesu FT-817 QRP HF transceiver. Pass-thru CAT port allows Z-817 to control the FT-817 over the CAT bus while still allowing a host PC to also control the radio. 1.8 to 54.0 MHz coverage. LDG Z-817 1.8-54 MHz Autotuner, 0.1-20 Watts, 2000 Memories – Authorized Dealer. The Z-817 is the ultimate autotuner for QRP radios including the Yaesu FT-817(D). The Z-817 interfaces to the CAT port (ACC) on the back of the FT-817 radio with the provided cable. Tuning could not be simpler; one button push on the tuner is all that is needed and the Z-817 takes care of the rest. It will switch to PKT mode, transmit a carrier, tune the tuner, then restore the radio to the previous mode! 2000 memories cover 160 through 6 meters. Used Yaesu FT-817 complete with LDG Z-817 autotuner, FNB-72 internal rechargeable battery, MH-31 microphone, and original VHF/UHF rubber duck antenna. Note that this is not the “ND” model. It’s a nice little QRP rig that has served me well. With a tuned dipole antenna (not included) I’ve been able to reach from St. Louis to Maryland on SSB voice, and all the way to California, New England, and Canada with digital modes. I’ve been heard even further on WSPR (Europe). That’s with the terrible current band conditions and pushing only 5 watts from this rig (on battery power)! The Z-817 tuner is included. I highly recommend you use a tuner with this rig, and this one is already included. Protect your rig with a tuner. A great feature of the FT-817 is its ability to run from internal rechargeable batteries. This one includes the FNB-72 battery pack. With internal batteries, this is an excellent hiking rig. Check out the internet for people using this rig for SOTA operation. It’s light and easy to hike with.
