This is a very nice Collins “Gold Dust Twins” set. It consists of the KWS-1 transmitter (serial number 1129), 75A-4 receiver (serial number 3811), desktop speaker, and T/R relay with cables. Everything you need is here. The equipment was restored by W3HM, and as always, he did an amazing job. The paint and printing is perfect, and the 75A-4 has had many parts chromed. We just got done testing it out with everything hooked up, and the equipment operates as good as it looks! With line voltage of 230VAC, plate voltage sat at 2000VDC (no load). With a full load on 40 meters, it was at 1800VDC. Plate current was at 550mA. Keyed down, we’re getting about 650 watts out. All controls and functions work as intended! We’re hoping this equipment will find it’s way to someone who is familiar with operating this equipment, as it isn’t exactly simple to operate. If you’re new to ham radio, this probably isn’t for you. IMPORTANT: We’ve found the documentation regarding the W3HM restoration for both the 75A-4 and KWS-1. The work was done in January of 2012, and this documentation details everything that was done. This was a full restoration. We’ve also found the reproduced manuals, which are in excellent condition. Obviously, all of this documentation is included in the sale. I’ll also note that the 75A-4 has three filters installed. Also, the KWS-1 has it’s original cooling hose. Everything is complete and in good condition. If you need photos of anything specific, just ask and we’ll be happy to help! We’re in Sparks, Nevada, and can meet you any time.
