The receive time use is about 5Ø hours and the transmit time is about 5 hours. The transmit time was at a reduced power of 35 to 50 watts driving an amplifier. The Icom 7200 transceiver performs much better than expected and the receiver hears stations that my Icom 761 barely hears. There is a problem, ME. At 78 years of age, I wanted a new radio. But my shaky hands and dim eye sight prevents me from using this great transceiver properly. It is not the transceivers fault. This should have been considered by me prior to purchasing the transceiver. My Icom 761 has 69 controls on the front panel and with a lot of years experience, I can quickly make the necessary setting changes. All of the great features and specifications are available on line at the Icom web site and will not be listed here. But I will point out a few features that I really liked among the many available. While the 7200 has a manual Notch Filter, the DSP ANF (Automatic Notch Filter) is very fast acting. The ANF is a narrow DSP filter that automatically identifies and attenuates beat tones, tune-up signals, CW and so on, even if they are changing frequency. It removes them from the receiver pass band while preserving the desired sigals audio frequency response. Tuner-uppers disrupt a net and the ANF takes them out so quickly that they are not noticed. DSP Noise Reduction is very useful in reducing random noise and the control is adjustable while listening to the transceiver. It is the best that I have heard. DSP IF filter has three (3) adjustable selections: wide, mid or narrow settings that can be adjusted quickly while listening to the QSO and not disrupting it, allowing the best setting on the fly. These 3 adjustable settings are available on each of the modes. The RF Speech Compression is the best that I have heard and used. I never received any transmit audio reports, except excellent. No one ever said, disable your processor because it was distorting. And the effective result is a strong transmit audio that has a lot of punch. VY 73 George K5BMR AR.
