There are few if any serious features that Ten Tec overlooked in creating this radio. It was designed for the really serious DXer or contester. The Orion II was the top of the line Ten Tec 100 Watt transceiver. It is a very high performance SDR with Standard roofing filters, 20 KHz. 6 KHz, 2.4KHz. 1.0 Khz, and I added the optional 600 Hz roofing filter. The filters are chosen by selected bandwidth and is shown on the display. The front panel display contains a functioning spectrum display of up to 72 Khz. For searching and working or breaking pileups this is a handy feature. For the contester, there are built in voice and CW message recorders, 3 each. Two separate receivers which can use any of three antennas, Ant1, Ant2, or receive antenna. All antenna selections are on the front panel. Ant1 and Ant2 use the built in ATU that can tune typically tune a 10:1 VSWR. There are separate equalizers for the transmitter and the receivers all controllable from the front panel. The operator radio setup can be defined by the operator and remembered. Switching between these is accomplished by recalling User 1 or 2. Batteries were replaced 60 days ago and should last years. The built in IF DSP has NB, NR, and notch functionality that is quite effective. All of the radio is software controllable and can be updated by using the serial port on the back of the Orion. The radio works well with popular interface software like Ham Radio Deluxe and N1MM. There is a line in and line out on the back for use with digital modes and software like Fldigi.
