Built for serious range and loud, clear audio – a powerful mobile radio for truckers who want more than standard rigs. If you’re running long miles and need to be heard, the Stryker SR-497HPC delivers the kind of power and audio clarity that standard radios simply can’t match. Designed for mobile use, this high-performance 10 meter radio is a favorite among experienced drivers who want stronger transmit, cleaner receive, and the ability to reach farther down the road. Whether you’re upgrading your current setup or stepping into a true high-power rig, this radio is built to perform where it matters-on the highway. Stryker SR-497HPC 10 Meter Amateur Radio – Brand New? High-Power MOSFET Final – Built for Serious Operators? Fast U. ? Why This Radio Stands Out. The SR-497HPC is one of Stryker’s most popular high-power 10 meter radios, known for strong output, clean transmit audio, and dependable performance in both mobile and base setups. That means you get the long range that every trucker needs. But to use it on the Citizens Band, you must convert it. It does not “work” right out of the box as a CB (see FAQs below). This is not an entry-level unit – it’s built for operators who expect consistent power and control. ? Performance & Range. This radio is built for drivers who need strong, reliable communication on the road. With significantly more output capability than standard entry-level radios, it delivers loud, clear transmit audio and excellent receive sensitivity-helping you stay connected with other drivers over greater distances when conditions allow. Whether you’re running highways, coordinating with other trucks, or just want a setup that cuts through noise, the SR-497HPC is known for big audio and solid performance in mobile environments. ? Performance & Control Features. High Power Output (90+ Watts PEP typical). Variable RF Power Control. MOSFET Final Section for Stability & Efficiency. Large Meter + Bright Frequency Display. Built-In Echo & Talkback. Noise Blanker (NB) / ANL Filters. Automatic Antenna Warning Indicator (AWI). 10 Meter Amateur Radio Operation. Mobile Installations (Truck / Vehicle). Operators who want strong, reliable output. ? What You’ll Receive. Mounting Bracket & Hardware. Is this a CB? No, it is a 10 meter radio. The Citizens Band is limited to 4 watts and operates on the 11 meter band per FCC regulations. If you see “10 meter radio” on a listing, it is not a CB. Is it peaked and tuned? All ham radios are “peaked” by the qualified engineers who design them. A radio hack without an engineering degree and radio design experience cannot improve on this, though they can alter the radio for higher output wattage. But this overdrives the transistors, causing distortion and overheating. Not a good thing to do. There is no additional tuning required. Why the ALL CAPS for mosfet? Because MOSFET is an acronym, and in English acronyms are spelled in all caps. MOSFET stands for Metal Oxide Field Effect Transistor. This is not a new technology. It has evolved and improved over time. Some radio buyers obsess over what kind of transistor is used in the finals, based on something they read or their buddy told them. MOSFET isn’t the only way to achieve the design engineers’ goals, but this technology is often chosen. We get this question quite a bit. It is illegal to sell a converted radio, and it also violates the TOS of any online marketplace to do so. If the listing says 10 meter and it says NEW condition, then it has not been converted. And the title would also need to say 11 meter not 10 meter. We hope that helps you get around the confusion this issue causes.
