This is the original Yaesu FT-817 QRP amateur transceiver (not the -ND model, so no 60 meter band). It is fully operational. The only defect is that the lower left corner of the rear panel casting has been chipped off, but this is only cosmetic and has no operational significance (see pic #2). The radio transmitter runs up to 5 watts power output at 13.8 VDC input, or up to 2.5 watts on internal batteries. This is a “do it all” radio for everything from HF QRP, to 6 meter DX, to 2 meter FM repeaters, to the Easy-Sats. It has also been used as an IF rig for microwave transverters. Included is the AD5X voltage conditioner module (pic #3) which provides protection from reversed battery voltage, transient protection, and limits input to 9.6 VDC to decrease internal power dissipation. This limits transmitter power output to 2.5 watts. A built-in slide switch bypasses the regulator if the full 5 watts output is needed. The module also provides a Anderson Powerpole connector for the external power supply. And was published in QST June, 2005 pp. It is completely external to the radio, with no internal modifications. It is held in place by a single screw to the rear panel ground post and can easily be removed. Many extras are included in this package. Original box and operating manual.
