This came to us from the estate of a recent silent key. This estate had 6 transceivers in it and all were in phenomenal condition. If you are aware of the legacy of this Yaesu transceiver you know that these are bullet proof solid transceivers that have excellent receiver sections and a very robust transmitter section. The transmitter utilizes the very readily available 6146B finals as well as the 12BY7A driver tube. The three tubes in these transmitters allow great flexibility in the loading of mismatched antennas that the newer solid state transmitter outputs cannot duplicate without an antenna tuner. The FT-901DM has a healthy 180watts input to the plates of the two 6146 final tubes. This is a heavy transceiver since it has the power supply built in to the unit. These make great entry level ham transceivers or a solid back up unit for a newer rig. This was put on the bench here at Sacramento Radio Expo and serviced: all controls and switches were cleaned with Deoxit D5. All critical voltages were measured and all tubes were tested for gas, shorts, and trans-conductance. The receiver works beautifully with phenomenal sensitivity and great selectivity. The receiver section worked better than the specs indicate as determined by our Agilent RF generator. This is a nice working unit that will not disappoint you.
